BUCHANAN STREET PARTERS' ENCORE FOR EDUCATION RAISES $150,000 for VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC FOUNDATION

Los Angeles, CA (June 24, 2008) – Buchanan Street Partners, a national real estate investment manager and advisor, raised $150,000 through its second annual Encore for Education charity concert, held June 12 at the House of Blues® in Los Angeles.  The fundraiser featured an exclusive performance by Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Proceeds from the event will benefit VH1 Save the Music Foundation and will help fund music programs at five schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District and will provide over 3,000 children with musical instruments.“We believe in giving back to our community by providing children, the next generation of leaders, with an education that will set them up for success,” said Robert Brunswick, President and CEO of Buchanan Street Partners.  “Music education has been shown to be directly correlated with academic achievement, and we in the real estate industry feel a responsibility to pay it forward by helping to keep music programs in the schools.”Over 1,000 top real estate professionals attended the event, a nearly sold-out crowd, which was hosted by Buchanan Children’s Charities and underwritten by generous sponsors.

A Crosby, Stills & Nash-signed custom guitar was auctioned off for $10,500 and four signed guitars were presented to the four largest event sponsors.  Underwriting sponsors included: Buchanan Street Partners, Bixby Land Company, The TCW Group, and Arden Realty. Buchanan Street Partners founded Buchanan Children’s Charities in 2007 to increase funding for local charities and improve educational opportunities for children.  Every year, the firm coordinates two major events to benefit the charity, Encore for Education and Challenge for Children, which is a beach-sports competition benefiting several charities taking place on September 12, 2008.

Buchanan Street Partners is one of the first real estate firms in the country to launch its own 501(c)(3) charity.  “We at Buchanan have taken the initiative to step up as a leader in the industry,” said Tom Sherlock, BSP Senior Managing Director. “We’re proud of the success of the event and its impact on the community. We hope it demonstrates to other corporations how important it is to give back.”In 2007, the first annual Encore for Education raised $100,000 and featured a performance by The Goo Goo Dolls. Proceeds funded music programs in Los Angeles including the 32nd Street/USC Magnet School for the Visual & Performing Arts, Hooper Elementary School and the Balboa Gifted/High Achieving Magnet.
