The special event hosted 36 real estate industry teams competing in volleyball, basketball, a kayak-run relay and a tricycle relay.  The Newport Beach Fire Department (sponsored by Aslan Realty and Iaffaldano, Shaw & Young, LLP) took first place, followed second by CAL Berkeley’s Haas School of Business (sponsored by CIP Real Estate) and in third place, USC Masters of Real Estate Development (sponsored by Allen Matkins). For the first time the event hosted a “Dunk Tank Challenge” and raised an additional $1,000 for the charities by dunking Buchanan’s Chief Investment Officer, Tim Ballard and GE’s Region Manager, Tim Campbell. The event also had a silent auction which raised an additional $4,500 for the charities.

“This year’s event was a testament to the local commercial real estate industry’s commitment to giving back to the community.  We recognize that children’s needs do not go away during these tough economic times, and we are grateful to all our clients and partners that made this donation possible.  With their support, over 52,000 children will be directly impacted,” said Robert Brunswick, President and CEO of Buchanan Street Partners.

Other companies that participated, each with a minimum contribution of $3,500, included: Birtcher Development and Investments, Bixby Land Company, CBRE, Chase Merritt, CIP Real Estate, GE Real Estate, Lowe Enterprises, The Irvine Company, The TCW Group, Inc and US Bank.  This year’s event sponsors included:  DLA Piper, KPMG and Kaye Scholer, LLP.
